Could that be a M38? Filler cap looks big and it almost looks like that could be a battery hatch on the tub in front of the passenger side. But then it looks like there may be a drain hole. To my untrained eye, I can’t tell. Maybe there is some other distinction.
I wouldn’t rule it out. I agree the hole looks big. In addition, there appears to be something in the area of the battery box, however I really can’t tell for sure. That’s why I went with the seller’s declaration that it was a CJ-3A.
