Dave, I’ve been looking at Willys for over a year now and I’m interested in getting a jeep such as this one. My dilemna is that while I feel like only a flattie will scratch this itch I have, I plan on driving the jeep I get in the winter. Here in Ohio they salt the roads regularly so I wonder if I should get a newer wrangler instead since it will stand up to the salt better. Could I have the dreaded willys disease before I even own one? I was wondering if you or anyone could share their thought on htis. Thanks.

I have a newer JK 4-door, and it’ll rust like any other truck. Jeeps don’t come with undercoat from the factory. I use a rattle can to touch up the rusty spots (mostly scrapes etc. from trails), then follow with a coat of Amsoil HDMP. You could also opt for a professional undercoat. All the panels on a JK are steel, so they will eventually start to rust too.

    js.
