This sounds like a good price on a CJ with new tires and brakes. There’s a couple things that puzzle me. The reversed springs in the front and the M-38a1 dash would suggest, well, a M-38a1; However, the serial number suggests a CJ-5.

I’d say someone replaced the original tub with an M38A1. Seems like the cowl battery box and hood cut out was gone on the CJ5 by the 60s. And then as you said there’s the dash.
But, on second look, the fuel filler doesn’t look right for an A1………
