Update: Still Available
(04/22/09) This M-38 has reversed front springs, updated steering column and dash, a full cage and some power from a 327.
“This is a great Jeep and ready to roll. You can tow it (tow bar included) or drive it to your hunting camp. Overdrive. Power steering. Warn hubs. Other extras. More Pictures HERE!”
Looks solid. Is that a spare tire mount on the right side?
Yeah, that’s what it seems to be — or should I say it’s left over bolts that were used to mount a tire mount. But, that’s a little strange since the tire should be mounted on the tailgate as shown on this image from a m38 manual (http://cj3b.info/Photos/Tech/TailgateSpare/M38TailgateSpareManual.JPG).
You can read more about this from the CJ-3B site here http://cj3b.info/Tech/TailgateSpare.html
One other note .. check out the dashboard. You can see in through the passenger side door area that there’s an angled dashboard that’s been added.
How about one MORE note …. The front springs are reversed. While this was done on some m38a1s (years?), I don’t believe it was ever stock on the M-38. When it was a stock feature, the top of the shackle actually connect to a point that was through the frame, rather than under it. In the case of this M-38, the top of the shackle connects underneath the frame, suggesting to me this was an aftermarket change.
