Jeep Collection for sale out of Colorado

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A, CJ-3A, CJ-3B, CJ5, GPW (Ford MB), MB This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

willys_collectionUPDATE:  This was $85,000 for the whole collection. I have found some related craigslist ads.  See them below.

I’ve found a couple references to the sale of this collection.  Anyone know more? Based on the pic to the right, these don’t appear in great condition.  My guess is that this is over priced.

Here is a link to another reference at Hemmings, where I found the pic to the right.

Here’s a link to Hemmings that readsWILLYS: elderly WW II veteran has vintage Jeep collection, 40s-60s, both military and civilian, must sell, best offer.”

CRAIGSLIST ADS RELATED TO ABOVE:

1946_cj2a_colorado

1946 CJ-2A $4995

This one looks perfectly find.  The price doesn’t seem that outrageous.

“1946 Willys C-J2A spruce green all original condition, partially restored with new canvas removable top – runs and drives – $4,995”

1948_cj2a_colorado

1948 CJ-2A $11,500

This one doesn’t look like it is in great condition.  There’s no reason to think it is worth $11,500.

“1948 Willys C-J2A signal red fully restored and in great condition – $11,500– Firm”

1949 CJ-3A Portland, Or $1700

1949_cj3a_portland3The seller says the winch is a PTO, but that looks like a Warn winch to me?  Looks like some rust in the steps.

“either a cj2a or cj3a, has artic top, everything seems to be original. motor looks rebuilt. its been in the family for 12 years. has what i think is called an artic top, has pto winch.have title, email with any questions”

1951 CJ-3A San Diego, Ca $2500

1951_cj3a_sandiegoThat roll bar just isn’t working for me.  I’m a sucker for the old slot aluminum rims, as many of you know.

“Nice old Jeep, lots of work done, needs a little more… Can’t get all the pics to load, come by & see it at 6653 Mallard St, San Diego, Ca 92114.  (619) 264-1940”

1946 CJ-2A Connecticut **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A • TAGS: , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

1946_cj2a_ct1UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $6500.

The $6500 is a buy it now price on eBay.  Apparently the Seller has 2 other offers made via eBay as well.  This appears to be on the boarder between a VEC and an EC CJ-2A.  The seller is only the 2nd owner.  Too bad a floor shifter was swapped into it.  It looks quite nice.

“Here is an original 46 willys cj2a that I bought 7 years ago off the original owener who purchased the jeep new in 1946 and used it on his farm in Easton CT.  The jeep is still in running condition after all those years and only has 27000 miles.  the way you see it is pretty much the way I bought it,  I replaced the fuel pump, plugs , and plug wires.  The jeep starts right up and will even start with the original hand crank!  The motor at times has a skip to it, so it may need the carb rebuilt eventually but does not smoke or knock. The jeep drives great and will do almost 50mph it handles good and does not shimmy at any speed.  It is really fun speed around back roads in this little jeep! At some point it was converted from column shift to floor shift, it is still 6 volt and has its original wiring harness….”

1950 CJ-3A Billings, MT **SOLD**

1950_cj3a_billingsUPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.

I suspect this seller won’t get any bids with a starting price of $2900.  The jeep appears pretty stock, but pictures reveal this jeep is a bit rough.

“THIS AUCTION IS FOR ONE 1950 WILLYS CJ 3A JEEP. I HAVE OWNED THIS JEEP SINCE 1976 AND AM THE SECOND OWNER. THE MOTOR WAS REBUILT IN 1975 JUST BEFORE I BOUGHT IT. IT HAS A NEW BLOCK. IT HAS THE ORIGINAL FLAT HEAD 4 CYLINDER. EVERYTHING IS ORIGINAL EXCEPT FOR THESE THINGS. I CHANGED OUT THE HUBS WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT IT. THEY ARE WARN TURN IN/OUT TYPE HUBS. THE WHEELS ARE ORIGINAL BUT TIRES ARE OBVIOUSLY DIFFERENT. THERE WAS A HITCH ON THE BACK AND I LEFT IT THERE. THERE IS STILL A 2 POINT FRONT RECEIVER THAT ALLOWS IT TO BE TOWED WITH A TOW BAR….”

Flat Fender Frenzy in Southern Ohio (other updates not til later)

• CATEGORIES: News This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

I’ll be busy tonight until late tonight, so expect updates later than usual.  In the meantime, John forwarded me this link about the Flat Fender Frenzy from the Mightymo.org website. I’ve pointed readers to the mightymo website in other posts, but I guess I hadn’t explored the entire website.

As I understand it, Flat Fender Frenzy is a weekend event that occurs near the end of August in southern Ohio.  It looks like a fun little get together with some camping, jeeping and relaxing. Sounds like a perfect weekend to me.  You can view a variety of pics from the last few years here.

Dune Buggies

• CATEGORIES: VEEP (VW Jeep), Scamp, Others, Website This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

dunebuggyGrowing up, I had a friend Tim who was my age and lived across the street. Hi father’s name was Bud and he was a machinist for Boeing.  Bud had a magical lathe and valuable skills that created a few of the valuable pieces I needed for putting together my first jeep. Bud also told me one day, near the end of building that first jeep, how he was talking to my Dad and how proud Dad was that I had built the jeep.  Of course, when Bud told me this, I just stared back, as Dad only told me what I was doing wrong … aahh, father and sons.

Anyway, one of Bud’s projects was a beautiful red, sparkly Dune Buggy he built (not the one to the right, but similar).  It was pretty much just a road machine toy.  For those who knew the Renton, Washington, area back in the 70s, Bud would drive his dune buggy down to the middle of the out door retail mall downtown (the one anchored by Sears on one end and QFC on the other) and park it in the middle of the mall (no there were no parking spots there), because he could do it and people loved to check out his Dune Buggy.

One day I was trying to find the body style (it was a flat fenderish hybrid buggy) and I ran across this amazing website called the dunebuggyarchives.com.  It includes a BODY ID Section that is very useful; there are SO many different buggy designs that the person managing this website built a database to help people navigate all the different kinds of buggys.  It also includes a history section that’s interesting.

Of course, there was even the flat fender dune buggy based on the M-38 and I have featured some of them for sale on ewillys.

1960 Wagon Blanket, Texas $2799

• CATEGORIES: Willys Wagons • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

1960_wagon_blanketThis is one of the more unusual wagons I’ve come across.

“This is a 1960 Willys Jeep Wagon (long bed) that has been converted to a hunting machine with a solid 10 guage steel floor, PTO driven winch, lock in / lock out front hubs, a 20 gallon gas tank, fold down tailgate, and a 12 volt electrical system. Has an offroad title. Could be made highway legal, but would take some work. Battery, headlights, “KC” type lights, spotlight plug ins, and cigarette plug ins all work fine. No tail lights. Has a big 7-blade Ford fan and a toolbox with hunting seat.”
