Dan forwarded this truck. He’s seen it in person and says it’s worth what he’s asking.
“Selling my 1956 Willys Pickup. Powered by 231 Buick V6, 3 speed with Borg Warner overdrive. Runs well. Has new aluminum radiator, water pump, t-stat, Willys America brakes parts (hoses, shoes, cylinders) new brake lines, dual master from Herm the overdrive guy. Superior Clutch relined clutch and rebuilt the pressure plate, new t/o bearing, new u-joints. New front 8 leaf springs by Crown Products. I opted from softer front springs instead of the 10 leaf. I also removed 3 leaves from the rear springs. New bushings in the springs. Larger tires for better cruising. New speedo of which I’ve driven 400 miles since installing. I’ve owned this truck for 7 years and time for me to pass it on to a new owner. Does it need work? Of course. Restore or just drive it as is, it has great patina. It’s made several trips to Willys America. I’ve got a few spares to go with it including a nice stock recovered bench seat to go with it. $4600 and drive it home with your name on the pink slip.”

H i everybody Does any one have insight to how to buy truck from out of state // safe// thanks chris
Hi Chris,
Are you concerned with 1. Transport, 2. Paperwork, 3. Cash flow (cash versus pink slip), 4. Reliability of seller, or 5 Something else?
Cheers!
Hi Dan thanks concerned about cash flow 7 transport
Hi Chris,
I get it; I’m used to buying trucks in person. Dealing across state lines is definitely different. I’ve bought a Willys Wagon from Arizona and sold my Willys truck to a nice guy in Texas. The buyer bears the financial risk (meaning if you are buying, you send the check first before getting the title/truck). There are a few ways around that… ask someone local to check the rig/double-check the paperwork/broker the deal.
In this particular case I know the seller and have seen his truck, so in my opinion, you have no worries there. Our three-year-old daughter keeps asking for a Willys truck that we can work on together; if she were 13, I’d (somehow) buy this one!
For transport, there were a few guys on the H.A.M.B. who recommended a broker out of Chicago who found a very reasonable car hauler to get my wagon from Phoenix to California.
Good luck!
