UPDATE: **SOLD** $2500
(10/10/2015) The “h-top is made for going through deeper water”? lol. Runs and drives.
‘Hi-top model with Chrysler engine, h-top is made for going through deeper water without flooding out. We also have the cab that fits over the body. Comes with spare tire. Runs great, two speeds in four-wheel drive, this is the ultimate mud truck for your deep camp. Now near Ellisville but may drive it up to near Starkville MS.”
Wow I learn something new every day. wonder if Chrysler still carry’s parts for the motor?
That is funny. If only they knew that the high hood served a different purpose. The jeep is pretty rough and not complete for that price. The bed looks replaced and there is rust on bottom edge of door openings. It would be nice if it had the original seat frames, wheels and tailgate but maybe they’re sitting in a corner somewhere. Also, it looks to be more of a 57 or 58 with the large speedo.
A whole lot of mis-informed sellers out there!
What was the purpose of the Hi-hood?
Gary, when willys introduced the overhead valve F head engine in the cjs, there needed to be extra height to clear the carburetor. Hence the high hood name. The cowl, grill and hood were all raised to make this happen.
Did Willys build both the ‘A’ and ‘B’ at the same time and depending on what engine was ordered you one or the other?
The cj3a was built from 49-53 and the 3b was introduced in 53, ending production of the 3a.
4 grand? I was thinking 4 hundred.
